Executive summary
The goal of this project is to improve Honey
production at Miguwa ward of Nzega District in Tabora Region by introducing
best practices in crop management and providing training to farmers on the
latest techniques in wheat production. This project will help to increase the
yield of cotton per acre, reduce the cost of production, and improve the
quality of Honey .The project is carried out in Miguwa ward that located in
west of Tanzania in Nzega District of
Tabora Region. The project duration will be 1 year. The overall goal of
the project is to improve the living condition of the people at Miguwa village
in Nzega District in Tabora Region.
The results so far will be an improved Honey production from
20 liter to 40 liter per beehives in season 2021/2022 which will helps to rise
the income that will improve standard of living by ensuring access to education
and health care, Provision of an employment opportunities to the people,
improvement of knowledge on how to improve wheat production activity and
increase in access finance. The major activities that will be carried out are
mobilization campaign to the smallholders, training 200. The project will have
a budget of honey production.
Back ground information
Populations
According to United
Republic of Tanzania (2022). The population will be 6,180, where by the Male
will be 3,039 and Female will be 3,141 in Miguwa ward of Nzega District in
Tabora Region.
Miguwa Village is among of the 10 of
the total wards of Nzega district council with Five administrative
streets (Miguwa, Nzega magharibi, Kitangili, Mbogwe, Mwanzori, Nzega
mashariki, and Uchama. streets). The ward was called a name Miguwa in 1978 recognizing a
popular man calle Miguwa in Nzega council it was famous in agricultural
business and owned several local alcoholic bars. Miguwa was official recognized
and registered as a ward in 1994 following a council response to
national call over the local government to expand their administration
boundaries to meet the increasing urban population. The natives of the
Miguwa village are Sukuma, and Nyamwezi.
Climate
Nzega Town Council has one rainfall season starting
from early November and ends up on June. It receives rainfalls between 650mm
and 1,200mm annually, falling between the months of October or November and
December and a dry period from January to February/March and a second lower
peak occurring soon after the dry spell is over in February or March and the
rains then tail off in June. Rainfall is critical for agricultural production,
which is the mainstay of the Nzega Town Council’s economy and livelihood. Thus,
human settlement and land use patterns influenced by the distribution of
rainfall such that there is a concentration of people on the eastern area.
Temperatures range from 28oC to 30o. The highest
temperatures are experienced in October just before the onset of rainfall.
Temperatures fall gradually to December and there after remain relatively
constant up to May. From June to August
the district experiences low Temperature.
Geographical Location
Nzega district is among seven districts of Tabora
region. Most parts of the district are located in the northern part of Tabora
region, shares borders with Shinyanga rural district in the North, Uyui
district in the South, Kahama district to the West and Igunga district on the
eastern side. In terms of international identification, the district lies
between latitudes 3045’ and 5000’ South of the Equator and between longitudes
32030’ and 33030’ east of Greenwich.
Demographic Distribution Table of the Miguwa
village
Most of Miguwa village is highly populated with
large number of habitants. Areas like Mwanzori, Idudumo, Nzega mashariki,
Kitangili and Miguwa are highly populated due to the presence of the new Nzega
town council.
Economic Activities
In Miguwa village there are some Social-Economic
activities which are performed, most of the predominant social and economic
activities that are performed at MIGUWA
village by the community members at daily life for the aim to improve
their basic living standard include;-
Agriculture
Miguwa village depends on agriculture activities but
the areas are not enough for production on crops. Such areas are available at
Miguwa village is in the Mtaa of Miguwa.
The kind of crops which they cultivate more are Maize, Beans, round potatoes
and sweet potatoes, some people deal with small garden for vegetable, fruits,
and flowers by using irrigation method.
Trade activities
Different markets found at Miguwa village which
includes flea market at Miguwa machingas
and butchers.
Transport activities
The major means of transport at Miguwa ward the main
transport mean is Bajaj, Bus and
Bodaboda as found all area in ward also in Miguwa ward are in ward in well as private cars.
Natural resources
Forest and water reserves act as the natural
resource that found in Miguwa village.
Social
Activities Miguwa village doing various activities Like Building a school,
building a hospital and other activities.
Education services
The education services which provided in the ward
are divided into two parts, the primary and secondary education segments, the
current status of education service as per each segments shown as follows;
primary education, Miguwa village has a total number of 3 primary like Miguwa
primary, Shalemwa primary school and Iduguta primary school. Schools of which government schools are 3 and
secondary school, in Miguwa village has a total number of 1 secondary schools
of which government school is 1. Like Miguwa secondary school,
Health services
MIGUWA village has a total number of health centers
and dispensaries. The ration of health facilities versus targeted population on
is however the ration mentioned is not realistic due to poor health
seeking behavior contributed by distance to the health facility.
Churches and Mosque
Different churches like Tanzania assemblies of God,
Moravian, Romman Catholic, EAGT and house of prayers.
Political Activity
ln Miguwa village there are many parties and the
ruling party of local government is Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). Other parts
includes Civil United Front (CUF), Chama cha Demokrassia na Maendeleo
(CHADEMA), Tanzania Labor Party (TLP) and ACT Wazalendo.
Problem
statements
Miguwa
village is the one of the village of Nzega District in Tabora Region which
faces with the problem of the low
production of Honey. This situation is carried by many factors such as;
Lack
of input for honey production such as, Good beehives, Good trees for hanging
beehives. This lead to poor production of Honey among small holders in miguwa
village. The effect of low protection of Honey is that:
It
affects the food production in miguwa village and the results are in adequate
food supply in the village and their make the people to have the poor health.
When
the people have poor health it is susceptible to get a disease such as
malnutrition also people cannot be active in production activities and the
income of the people will be affected and cannot afford basic needs, education,
health etc.
If
this situation is not improved people can be affected health, economic, social
condition. However the small holders have low production, such as fertilizers,
better seeds of bees, better beehives, low production of honey production.
Therefore
it is important to improve honey production of food production of people to
improve their living improving the education about honey production in miguwa
village in order to improve the social, economic and health condition of the
people at Miguwa village of Nzega District in Tabora Region.
Project goal
To improve the
living condition of the people at Miguwa village of Nzega District in Tabora
Region.
Specific objectives
i.
To improve honey production at Miguwa
village of Nzega District in Tabora Region from 200 liter to 400 liter per
beehives from 2022 to 2023 farming season.
ii.
To train 2 hundred farmars from Miguwa
village for one week on better honey production.
iii.
To prepare two acre for honey production
for demonstration plot for honey production in Miguwa village.

This

500 people of improving of honey production at Miguwa village of Nzega District
in Tabora Regio
iii) Procurement
2000 of better beehives, better seeds and fertilizers.
iv) To
prepare 2000 beehives for honey production.
v) Buy
1,000,000 bees for improving honey production.
vi) Planting
flowering trees for improving honey production of 3 acres
vii) Educate
500 people about the production of honey.

Processing the Honey, to procurement

Project Organization setup
The
project will be implemented at Nzega District council. The District will
appoint project governing board which will consist of 6 members out of which 3
will be women. The board will have chairperson who will be appointed by the
District council. The project coordinate will be the District council project
coordinator will be secretory to the board; it will meet twice per year.
The
organization setup as follow in the hard part is government in board in lower
is project coordinator which have three part community development officer.
Monitoring and Evaluation
They will be
monitoring of project activities which will be done by project coordinator as a day to day which is
support project coordinator he/she assistant by project by Community Development
Officer (CDO), Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Marketing Development
officer (MDO), Agriculture Community Development Officer(ACDO), Assistant
Agriculture Development Officer (AADO) and Assistant Marketing Officer (AMO) . The aims of monitoring are to see whether
the project is on the right track or not.
But again monitoring also to see whether there is
for the case of evaluation there will be evaluation which is called mid-term
evaluation and Final evaluation. The aims of evaluation are to find out if the
project has achieved its intended objectives. The Evaluation will be done to
find out the internal project and external consultant.
The project will be monitored by the monitoring and
evaluation team which will comprise field officer, assistant field officer,
Agronomist, Field Facilitator, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Finance
and Administration Officer
The field officers will be responsible to supervisor
all activities from the field like preparing training,
The project will be monitored by internal employees
who are in monitoring team and the monitoring process will take in every phase
